Are tribal tattoo’s generally cheaper or more expensive than conventional tattoo’s?
I’m looking into getting a tribal spanning across the top of my back, and I was just wondering are tribals generally cheaper or more expensive than a conventional flash tattoo? I know it’s widely based on the artists and the artists reputation, so let’s rule that out. I’m asking. It would be helpful if you’re already experienced in this matter. What are your personal experiences. And before anyone says anything – I already have shopped around and looked at all the shops in my area and have had work done before at this studio that I have been quite satisfied with so don’t mention that either. And 1 more thing, don’t post an answer telling me "not to get it" because your attempts are futile and I don’t care about your opinion on whether or not I should get it. I appreciate tattoo’s as an artform and am very proud of being apart of the tattoo’ed community.
Price depends how long it takes more than anything. Possibly quicker than getting a flash drawing, but depends how fine the detail is.

Get whatever melts your butter. Tribal is going out, after two decades of popularity. It’s okay, I suppose, but it’s tedious and boring to do. Some of it looks really sharp, don’t get me wrong. But it’s gonna date you, to an extent. That’s my two cents. Oh, and yes, the price tag is good.

Any tattoo with a lot of black work is going to be more expensive than a tattoo with just an outline. In my area, the artists charge by the peice, but based on an hourly rate (if that makes any sense). When I chose the shop for my tattoo, my artist said "it’ll probably take me about 3 hours, so I’ll quote you $300, and if it goes over, don’t worry about it." 4 and a half hours later I was all inked up and ready to go, but it still only cost me $300.
