I have a tattoo on my lower back that I got while in the marines. I had to have surgery on my back and part of the tattoo was messed up by a scar so I want to get a good border tattoo to go around the letters USMC….the letters are black and in a sort of old english font, with a little bit of the remaining tribal border coming out from either side (yes I got it back when tribals were trendy, I was only 20 so gimme a break)…can anyone give me some ideas or websites to goto to find a long wide, but more feminine border to go around the letters? Thanks.
BMEink.com is the best site for finding designs in my opinon.
I’d say try to make it something with meaning to you. Maybe a type of flower that could represent healing to you (from your scar) or a quote in pink. What about angel wings coming out from the letters!? Representing your girl "angel" side as a marine!?

I’m half filipino and I want to get a tattoo to represent my filipino heritage. I want it to either be alibata or a tribal (i’m leaning towards tribal) I was wondering how tribals are made, like how do you come up with designs etc. I like surfing so waves would be cool, i train in martial arts so warrior stuff and I love humor/laughter. Does anybody know how tribals work? does the artist make up the designs or do they have pre-made designs? Do they customize to your interests or do you pick from a swatch? I like this guy’s tribal but it represents a kid and i don’t have a kid but something along these lines:

please tell me everything you know about filipino/island tribals!
thanx in advance.
so you have to be a member of a filipino tribe to get a tribal? dang it! Does it mean anything that I was raised by a filipino and half my family is filipino?
Go on Myspace or a site like that and look for tattoo artists in the Philippines. You can look at their work and get ideas. Or message them and see what they say.
If you go to a good artist they can customize one for you. But you should have a general idea of what you want, so they have something to work with.
And of course you don’t have to be in a tribe to get a tribal tattoo! If that’s what you like, you should get it!

i’m gettin my 1st tattoo tomorrow but i don’t know what i should get i was thinkin bout gettin my mama name but idk. do anyone have any ideas like tribals or things like that
Tattoos are for life, not a game or something you get because it’s "cool".
You said it yourself – you don’t know what you want. Nothing screams "don’t do it" louder than that!

Anyone know what the tribal tattoo on the wrestler Bill Goldberg’s left shoulder means? Does it have a meaning or is it just a design?
Most tribals have a meaning…just wanting to know its meaning. Thanx!
no meaning, just a design.

I’m looking into getting a tribal spanning across the top of my back, and I was just wondering are tribals generally cheaper or more expensive than a conventional flash tattoo? I know it’s widely based on the artists and the artists reputation, so let’s rule that out. I’m asking. It would be helpful if you’re already experienced in this matter. What are your personal experiences. And before anyone says anything – I already have shopped around and looked at all the shops in my area and have had work done before at this studio that I have been quite satisfied with so don’t mention that either. And 1 more thing, don’t post an answer telling me "not to get it" because your attempts are futile and I don’t care about your opinion on whether or not I should get it. I appreciate tattoo’s as an artform and am very proud of being apart of the tattoo’ed community.
Price depends how long it takes more than anything. Possibly quicker than getting a flash drawing, but depends how fine the detail is.

ok, i have tattoos on my forearms. (both) their tribals tho! an i spoke to my cuzins staff sergeant an he said hes gonna try to get me a waiver. do you think its cool for me to join? will they let me join? my tribals arent that big. their only from 2 inches before my wrist to 2 inches before where my elbows are. an if i cant.. will the army take me?
why do you want to join if your asking about the army also? do you want to be a marine or are you going for whoever accepts you?..your tattoos will be sent to a place where they are reviewed..so no one out here knows..if they cover an entire body part such as an arm then its most likely gonna be no..unless there is a great demand for what you have to offer then waivers are rare..there is no shortage or desperation in the usmc recruiting these days

Get something done on your inner arm, bicep area. Your last name, or any design. I think tats look really good there.

Im wanting to get a tattoo and would like something original but not outdated. I plan on designing my own but I would like to know the current trends. Tribals seem to be losing popularity and I always think of them as more of a 90’s thing. Anyone know whats next or any websites that I can check them out?
Trends and tattoos are generally not a good combination. If you want something original then to hell with the trends. Get a tattoo that holds a meaning for you and that YOU like the appearance of. Putting ink in your skin is a very personal choice.
And for the guy that said invisible tattoos…I guess you haven’t seen or heard much about them. The ink they use tends to react badly with most people and leaves raised scar tissue on the tattoo site.

i never understood that. i mean i have heard of koi tats of course. and you see them on the internet alot.
but i dont et why people say they are "too common" cause when you think about it its actualy very rare to see a person out in the world with a koi tattoo.
tribals, armband, and tramp stamps is whats common. would you agree?
ok first of all your tat coming out good is all about the artist doing it. If he or she is a real good artist then they can make anything look good. So find a good artist that you can trust. oh and when your around for an artist DONT go by price. its going to be stuck on you forever price doesnt really matter.
Now to answer your question koi tats are kinda common, but personaly i havent seen that much of them around, Now tribal tats are super common and i see them just about every day. armbands and tramp stamps are positions ont he body to get a tat. thats a lil different subject. I would get a koi tat if i really wanted one. ive seen very pretty ones.
