I need help with mythological symbols for a tattoo?

I’m working on a half sleeve (from my elbow to my wrist) I want it to be a mix of different symbols from various myths. Thor’s hammer, Poseidon’s trident, Pandora’s box, etc. The problem is that I’m running out of symbol ideas. If anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
it can be any myth/legend. I just used Thor and the Greek ones for an example. I’m Irish so I’d like some of those too.

So, are you sticking to Roman/ Greecian mythological symbols? If so, here are a few more:

Perhaps a small trojan hourse, or a swan (from Leda and the Swan), a golden apple (from the story of The Apple of Discord), or a laural tree in the shape of a woman (like the nymph Daphe, who was transformed into a tree by Gaia)…

There are others, but I can’t think of them right now. Hope I helped.

Anyone have tattoo ideas that are symbols for a brother & a sister?

I see tons for just brothers or just sisters. My brother was killed in a car accident and I am looking for a tattoo on my wrist forearm area? Any ideas or pictures?

Is there a symbol that reminds you of him? Perhaps he had an interest that you could adapt a symbol from: a sport, music, etc. Then you could put his initials below, or his birthday and date of death.

Can someone pls. help me translate my name into Japanese Kanji Symbols to create a tattoo?

Calligraphy style preference.
Or can anyone suggest a website that I can find good Japanese symbols that I can use for my first ever tattoo?

Wow… you’re brave to ask that question on here. You could end up running around with a tattoo that says "I like to eat ****", or "I **** <enter the most vile creature you can imagine here>.

Translating your name in Kanji can be a tricky thing. There could be several possible characters that could used, each with different meanings. You may be interested in taking a look at the following site:
http://www.your-name-in-japanese.com/japanese_name_translation.html

You’ll notice that you have to pay for the actual service, however.

Here’s another site offering name translation service:

http://www.dsfy.com/JapaneseNameTranslation.htm

Again, you have to pay for it.

The following site offers a list of 3000 of the most popular names translated into Japanese for FREE:

http://www.takase.com/Names/NameInJapanese.htm

And if they don’t have your name, they have a request form to have your name translated and sent to you… but again, for a price.

Alternatively, Rum and Monkey has a FREE Japanese name generator. Just put in your gender and name, and it will show you your Japanese name, as well as the meaning. If you wanna trust anything from a site called Rum and Monkey, here’s that link:

http://rumandmonkey.com/widgets/toys/namegen/969/

It might be worth paying for a native Japanese speaker to do the translating, since this tattoo is going to be (presumably) on you forever. Depending where you’re located, you may even be able to find a Japanese tattooist. Japanese tattooists are some of the best in the business.

need information about native/tribal symbols meaning ART for my first tattoo?

I’ve searched on the web but there is no image or symbol with that meaning. Also i’ve looked for chinese symbols with that meaning and the only symbols i found where form the words LOYALTY, LOVE or FAITH as examples…but not from ART…Im looking for that symbol because it will be my first tattoo and the only thing i would tattoo myself is something that means literally ART..please help me!

Tattoo it in calligraphy. or in calligraphy on a banner. or in calligraphy in the center of a tribal design like a heart or tribal markings. If you simply wanna express ur love for art with ur body, y not do it so everyone can not only appreciate the artwork of the design but have an understanding of it. Lots of ppl have japanese and chinese symbols on their bodies and being american most of us don’t have a clue what it means unless we ask. Personally I think if you can make it easily understood while making it pretty, you and others will appreciate it.

~ just my 2 cents~

Tattoo ideas for symbols of strength?

I am getting a tattoo on the back of my neck in memory of a good friend from high school that was killed a few years ago. He’s been my angel of strength the last few years and that what I want to depict in my tattoo, but I dont want to do the traditional chinese symbols. Any ideas? I’m also thinking of putting angel wings around it, but I’ve heard that doesn’t usually turn out very good. IDEAS?!!

The Batman emblem. I give you strength.

What christian symbols would look good with these lyrics for a tattoo?

I want a tattoo that’s on the inside of upper arms. One arms going to say ‘My chains are gone…" and on the other "I’ve been set free…" I don’t want it to just be words, so I thinking what could be added to it so it won’t be so plain. It’s a Christian song, so what kind of Christian symbols would look good with it?? Thanks

like said above, broken chains, dove, cross:

does anyone kno of and could give me a link for tattoo symbols meaning freedom or independence?

ive been thru sooo much growing up and now things are kinda goin my way..im being able to do more things on my own and i wanted something permanant to represent that
im kinda restarting my life…plz help..it’ll mean alot

A pheonix is a great idea! There are some really cool pheonix ideas out there too, from the most basic to some EXTREMLY elaborate ones! If you could translate something like this : http://images.elfwood.com/art/c/h/chomp/phoenix.jpg (Minus the crying) into a tattoo, it would look very pretty!

This is an AWESOME tattoo, but I don’t think you want to get this, detailed with it : http://farm1.static.flickr.com/60/160570352_075b463d7d_o.jpg

You could also go with the old chinese symbol route: http://www.chinese-symbols.com/i-chinese-symbol-for-independence
